| Chief Minister misleading people, says Kishan Reddy |
G. Kishan Reddy
HYDERABAD: BJP floor leader G. Kishan Reddy demanded that files relating to the assigned lands surrendered by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy be placed either before the Governor, Assembly Speaker or Chief Justice of the High Court before the Assembly meets on Monday.
At a press conference here on Saturday, he charged Dr. Reddy with "misleading" the Assembly and the people, by stating that the lands were purchased by his late father although two pieces of assigned lands -- of 2.95 acres and 3.5 acres -- were registered on June 8 this year. The land in his daughter's name was registered on May 13, 2004, a day before he was sworn in Chief Minister.
Stating that he had no faith in the Government and the Revenue Department, he said all files should be placed either before the Governor or the Chief Justice so that an enquiry could be conducted and prosecution ordered.
Blackmail alleged
The BJP leader alleged that the Government was trying to "blackmail" him. Local MRO was sent to his native and intelligence sleuths had visited the agency of which his relative was a partner and made enquiries.
He wanted a commission to be set up to reclaim the assigned, endowments, DKT and forest lands from those who held them illegally and distribute them among the poor. Changes should also be made in the Registration Act to ensure that such lands were not registered.
