HYDERABAD: Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi founder president Manda Krishna Madiga and BJP floor leader G. Kishan Reddy have appealed to the Government to review free medical care being extended to children with heart ailments and speed up the process.
Two years after the Government took its policy decision to extend free surgery and medical care to poor children suffering from heart ailments , 4,385 surgeries have been performed in 23 Government and private hospitals. The Government has disbursed Rs.10.42 crores to hospitals.
The duo visited NIMS on Thursday and inquired about the status of 28 children awaiting surgery in the hospital.
A convention will be organised at Birla Auditorium on August 7 with hospitals, NGOs, officials to review the pace of surgeries. Health Minister K. Rosaiah will be the chief guest.
The Government should speed up the process of helping the poor children as two lakh children were estimated to be suffering from cardiac problems, they said.
