GETTING READY: BJP candidate from Amberpet constituency, G. Kishen Reddy, on his way to file his papers on Monday.
Hyderabad: Promising better safety and security to the electorate in Amberpet Assembly constituency, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s lone legislator in the State, G. Kishen Reddy, filed his nomination papers on Monday.
Leading an impressive procession from a Mahankali temple in the locality, Mr. Kishen Reddy reached the Tahsildar office, the nomination centre, as party workers holding aloft BJP flags and dancing to ‘teen maar’ beats accompanied him.
“Bathukamma”Earlier, Mr. Reddy’s wife, Kavya, joined the party’s women activists to celebrate “Bathukamma” festival at the Mahankali temple.
Expresses confidenceInteracting with residents, Mr. Reddy claimed that though the Congress was ruling the State, Amberpet constituency, which was carved out from Himyathnagar constituency, saw more development during his tenure.
“Keeping in view the developmental works taken up, I am sure the residents will elect me again with more majority,” he said while speaking to mediapersons.
Criticises CongressAccusing the ruling Congress of playing ‘vote bank politics’, he criticised the fielding of Minister Mohd. Fareeduddin against him. “It’s sad that a 130-year-old party is still dependent on minority votes,” said Mr. Reddy.
BJP State president B. Dattatreya, who accompanied Mr. Reddy, said the party’s manifesto theme was “Surakshita Andhra Pradesh”. He called upon the people to vote for BJP to ensure right to life, food, water, health, education, safety and security.
